We alone do not exist without an identify or association and these identities or associates are our ego.
Ego is made of both a subject and an object.
Self-ego is made up of subject = me or i, with an object e.g. family, friends, body, car, house, etc etc. Self-ego is i.e. "my xxx", "i (subject) am happy (object).
A common-ego or more appropriately if we called it a shared-ego is when 2 or more persons shared a common ego, i.e. "our xxx", our family, our country, our relationship.
Shared-ego needs the sacrifice of individual self-ego to sustain and uphold. If everyone turned to their self-ego, the shared-ego eventually disintegrate.
It's always a struggle between "i" am more important or "we" are more important.
There are always struggles between and among egos...i.e. our relationship (shared-ego) is causing me (self-ego) too much pain, versus.. I (self-ego) will sacrifice for my country (shared-ego)...i will sacrifice our relationship (shared-ego) for my relationship with him/her (shared-ego).
The integrity of shared-ego is upheld when there are other supportive shared-ego..e.g. A marriage (shared-ego) is likely to stay when the couple have many kids (shared-egos) or we came from the "same country", "same village", we went to the "same school" and we are in "same family" (i married your sister or whatever). A shared-ego requires the sacrifice of the self-ego and once the self-ego is placed in priority, that's the start of the disintegration of shared-ego.
